We’re not alone…
Some people, particularly those who have seen me (Scott) rushing around the winery during vintage like the proverbial headless chook, have the misguided perception that I do everything at Provenance Wines. It’s true that we consider ourselves a family business (my sister Lee does the books, life partner Jen keeps tabs, and our girls adorn the barrels with marvellous chalk art) BUT the reality is that over time the family has extended to include some terrifically capable people.
Two of these are Kirilly Gordon and Sam Vogel, both talented winemakers in their own right, who through a love of wine ensure a lively wine conversation is constantly evolving here. With their European experience (Kira - Italy, Sam - France) they bring fascinating perspectives to the mix. Sometimes cool, sometimes heated, always passionate, our conversations are the fermenting vessel of ‘winemaking thought’ that fuel the journey towards our aim…truly great wine.
This level of cooperation and input may seem like wishful thinking (and in some fields, like politics it probably is) but it’s my joy to say that this is the reality of our workplace.
We love it. And we back ourselves to make wines that truly reflect origin and variety marked with a sensitive winemaking fingerprint.
